Lockdown: Going through the archives
Photography and lockdown don't go well together, I could probably sneak out for a bit and take some shots in safety. I'm not doing it this weekend though... Maybe I'm a bit lazy, or maybe I'm not feeling like fighting the cold outside. I’ll blame the lockdown for everything. However it can be nice after all. I have found time to go through the archives. Some good pictures there, some very good memories are coming back.
Just after I started this amazing hobby - photography, I have joined a National Trust membership. I've done it so I can keep myself out of my room as much as I can, and also to discover new places, try to take as many pictures that I can. I own a car, and I own a bike, transportation it's not a problem. Weekend after weekend I have visited quite a few of these amazing places. I shall do it again once the madness passes!
29th September 2019. Before the “you have to book” situation, When you could just turn up at these locations and start exploring... good times, I miss them. I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one. Not sure how I decided that I'm going to visit Wimpole Estate that day, maybe I was browsing the National Trust app and as it was quite close I thought that I should check it out. Happy I was that I did.
If I remember correctly I’ve arived there by car. Maybe it was cloudy... I parked and I have started with visiting the gardens. I was a bit late to see them in blossom, about a few months late.
I've circled the house, took a couple of pictures and then I went inside.
I loved it. A place full of history, so many lessons to be learned. There are two images I carry in my mind to this day. The one with the bells (that day I’ve realized how the servants knew which room require their attention), and the second one with the antique jacuzzi. Oh, those lords had a style!
I finished exploring the house and I went for a bit of a walk, I knew about some ruins on the estate. I really wanted to visit them. As I was walking in their search, it started raining… of course, it spoiled my mood and I turned a bit agro, I had to put the camera away, protect it from the rain… but then I saw it! How lucky I was?! Oh! Just look at that! The camera came back out and I started taking pictures… Maybe once in a lifetime… Maybe not. It was special anyway…
